Seven Years To The Exact Day…The 70 Weeks of Daniel

Ever since the Prophetic Movement of the 1870′s, there have been those who love to set dates for the return of Jesus Christ to earth. Many twist, crunch and contrive their calculations from Holy Scripture to force such a date. Most of these date setters reject the clear scriptural teaching about the Rapture of the Church along with many other basic dispensational teachings clearly taught in the Bible.

Is there any way to know the exact date of Christ’s return to Earth when He will institute the Kingdom of God?

There are two apparently conflicting answers: “No, there is not,” and “Yes, there is!”

When Jesus spoke about the Last Days and His glorious coming to earth in Matthew 24:36, He made this very clear statement: But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. This statement was given in response to the first of two questions His disciples asked Him (see v. 3), and the meaning is quite clear. No one but God the Father knows precisely the time of Christ’s return. There are countless other Bible verses regarding Believers’ watching and waiting for the promised return of Christ. One result of this uncertainty is that it causes the Believer to be in a state of readiness for their Savior’s coming, as the exact time for it is unknown. In these present last days, however, we clearly see some of these predicted signs happening before our very eyes, indicating the Lord’s return is imminent (at hand). Here are just a few Bible verses that speak of this truth.

See no Evil

It’s springtime for Jew-haters.

This week Oscar winning conspiracy theorist Oliver Stone joined Helen Thomas and Mel Gibson in the swelling ranks of out-of-the-closet celebrity Jew-haters. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Stone said that Adolf Hitler had been given a bum rap and that through “Jewish domination of the media,” the Jews have inflated the importance of the Holocaust and wrecked US foreign policy.

In the wake of criticism in Jewish circles, on Wednesday Stone’s publicist issued a mealymouthed clarification.

Stone failed to retract or amend his statement that “There’s a major lobby in the United States. They are hard workers. They stay on top of every comment, the most powerful lobby in Washington. Israel has f—ed up United States foreign policy for years.”

He also did not retract his view that Jews use the Holocaust to control American foreign policy. Stone simply referred to his claim that Jews make too much of the Holocaust because the Germans killed more Russians than Jews as “clumsy.”

He then broadened his initial allegation that Jews make too much of the Holocaust by allowing that we are joined in our efforts by non-Jews. And since non-Jews are involved also, he was wrong to criticize us.

Grad Missile Lands in Ashkelon

Several people treated for shock; damage caused to buildings, cars.

A Grad missile launched from the Gaza Strip landed in a central, residential area in the southern city of Ashkelon Friday morning. Magen David Adom crews treated two people for shock. The missile shattered numerous windows of the surrounding, multi-story buildings and vehicles in the area.

Ashkelon Mayor Benny Vaknin who arrived at the scene, said that the missile landed in the heart of a residential neighborhood and that Ashkelon citizens are unfortunately accustomed to such situations.

Vaknin emphasized that many educational institutions, schools and day-care centers in Ashkelon remain unprotected from rocket attacks and called on the Defense Ministry to continue efforts to reinforce vulnerable areas.

“I do not see how it will be possible for us to begin the school year with schools and day-cares left unprotected when a heavy cloud of lethal rocket and missile fire hovers above us,” Vaknin said.

A committee of Ashkelon parents threatened not to send their children to school at the beginning of the year if their school buildings would not be fortified, Israel Radio reported Friday.

Lebanon Builds Up Troops Near Southern Border After Attacks on UN Peacekeepers

Officials said the Lebanese Army has been ordered to send a brigade, or about 1,500 troops, to the south. They said the reinforcements would ensure security as well as freedom of movement for the United Nations peacekeeping force, called the UN Interim Forces In Lebanon.

The Lebanese decision took place several weeks after a series of attacks on UNIFIL patrols in Shi’ite villages in the south. Officials said Hizbullah was believed to have directed the assaults, which included the seizure of weapons from a UNIFIL patrol from the French contingent.

“This step announced by the Lebanese government is a positive development that will be met with praise by Lebanon’s partner in UNIFIL,” French ambassador Dennis Pietton said.
Officials said the military deployment began on July 26 and would require about a week until completion. They said the Lebanese forces would accompany UNIFIL patrols throughout the south.

Until July, the Lebanese Army has deployed fewer than 1,000 troops south of the Litani River. In contrast, UNIFIL was operating a force of 13,500 peacekeepers from NATO and other states.

“This is news that we hoped to hear because it is important to support Lebanese troops in the south, in accordance with [UN Security Council] Resolution 1701 at the time of its implementation,” Pietton said.

Israel’s Enduring Strength

Israel scored surprisingly – perhaps – high in the newly published Gallup poll ranking countries for their citizens’ happiness levels. Israel came in tied for eighth along with Canada, Australia, and Switzerland. Only the four Scandinavian countries – Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden – along with the Netherlands, Costa Rica, and New Zealand came in higher.

Clearly, being a democracy is necessary for scoring in this top eleven. Being among the world’s richest countries helps, but is not required; Israel and New Zealand are not among them, Costa Rica considerably less so.

But, clearly, what dramatically differentiates Israel from all the other ten, makes it an anomaly among them, is its security situation. Over the past decade alone, no other democracy has endured anything approaching the combination of the Second Intifada, the Second Lebanon War, rockets from Gaza, the Gaza War, and constant threats and promises of Israel’s annihilation from Tehran. Yet, according to the poll, Israel is not only as happy as Canada, Australia, and Switzerland, but outpaces democracies like the United States, Britain, France, and many others.
