Millions to Pray for Peace of Jerusalem

Roughly 100 million people worldwide are expected to pray Sunday for the peace of Jerusalem.
Organizers say 300,000 churches in 175 nations—including underground congregations in China and the Middle East—will participate in the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem, which is considered the world’s largest Israel-focused prayer event.
Eagles’ Wings founder Robert Stearns, who is hosting the prayer day with Foursquare Church leader Jack Hayford, will lead a prayer event from the Tayelet Haas Promenade in Jerusalem. Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, Christian Broadcasting Network President Michael Little and Rabbi Shlomo Riskin of Efrat are scheduled to participate in the gathering, which will be broadcast on God TV.
“We are living in challenging days, when Jerusalem is under tremendous pressure on all sides,” Stearns said. “The prayers of faithful people on her behalf will make a difference, especially as Christians and Jews from the nations, along with Arab Christians and Jews from Israel, stand together in Jerusalem on Oct. 3.”…more…

Last Thursday, a story broke in Indianapolis about a locally-owned cookie store whose owners decided not to make a specialty order for a gay and lesbian event known as “National Coming Out Day.” Two IUPUI college students tried to place an order for rainbow-colored cookies and were told that the store could not accommodate them.
The owners of Just Cookies cited that they do not carry the large variety of colors required to create the cookies. When pressed further, co-owner David Stockton stated “I explained we’re a family-run business, we have two young, impressionable daughters and we thought maybe it was best not to do that.”
The local media first covered the students’ complaints with a seemingly neutral standpoint. I say “seemingly neutral” only because even though the media presented the story by providing both points of view, the fact that the reporters thought it was newsworthy at all shows that they thought the students were treated unfairly…more…

I want to remind you of our two foundational scriptures that we have been referencing over the course of this series. I refer to Jude 3 and 1 Timothy 4:1. In the case of Jude believers are admonished to, contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. [Jude 3 NKJV] Earnestly contend is from a Greek word that indicates an intense struggle to the point of agony.
How many believers do you know that committed to the defense of truth from error and false doctrine? Yet, that is what we are to be. Why is this contention necessary? Paul writes in our second foundational text, Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons. Wherever one goes today, multitudes of teens and young children can be seen avidly imitating and idolizing the vast array of musicians and their decadent, chic culture and lifestyle.
Television, satellite radio, iPods and the internet have revolutionized and intensified the accessibility to this hypnotic, godless spirit (2 Cor. 4:3-4; Eph. 2:1-2). America’s youth in particular are being intoxicated and brainwashed at an exponential rate with Lucifer’s subtle and godless message of “Do as Thou wilt.”
What is even more tragic is the majority of “out to lunch” parents who are totally oblivious and gullible about the damnable influence this culture and its demonic propaganda has over their children. These are messages of godlessness, anti-authority, licentiousness and promiscuity, immorality, vice, drug use, suicide, anarchy, violence, rape, “godless good,” delusional aspirations and fallen human hopes apart from the Creator in righteousness.

Police Pledge Swifter Response to Racism and Homophobia Than ‘Ordinary’ Crime

Police will stress to officers that victims from minorities suffer more when a crime is motivated by prejudice than a member of the general public would from the same offence.
Assistant Chief Constable Mike McCormick, of Lothian and Borders Police, said: “We wanted to make sure our own staff were aware of the impact hate crime has.
“If you punch me in the nose because you don’t like me because of the colour of my skin, race, sexuality or whatever, that has a longer effect because I’m thinking that not only does this person not like me, but lots of other people won’t like me either.
“If someone is already struggling with a disability then a hate crime can leave them thinking not only do I have a physical problem, but I also have a social problem because people don’t like me…more…
