The Call To Watch And Pray
lasttrumpetnewsletter.org
“But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.”
Mark 13:32-33
In this issue of the Last Trumpet Newsletter, we will once again examine the current events of these last days as we obey our Saviour’s command to “watch and pray.” I write this newsletter with the full knowledge that many will reject it because the subject matter is so often uncomfortable to deal with. Yet, we are admonished many times in the Bible to “watch,” and we obey that command by focusing our attention on what is happening in the world, watching for signs, looking for fulfillment of prophecy, and comparing what we see and learn to God’s Holy Scriptures. The purpose of this newsletter has always been to encourage Christians and unbelievers to open their spiritual eyes to the truth so they can see what is happening all around them.
Unfortunately, we live in a time period where most people would rather escape reality than face it. I’ve talked to numerous people who say they no longer watch the news or read the newspaper because they consider it too depressing. It is those type of people who will hate this newsletter. However, if you are a Christian, I ask you to prayerfully consider the content. Wouldn’t you prefer to know what is happening rather than be ignorant of current world events and be caught off guard by the adversary?…more…
World Inches Closer to Recognizing ‘Palestine’
www.israeltoday.co.il
Israel was shocked to learn on Monday that Britain is seriously considering upgrading the status of the Palestinian Authority delegation in London to that of an official diplomatic mission, putting it basically on par with the delegations of sovereign states.
The news, which was first reported by Israel’s Ynet news portal, was especially surprising considering that Britain’s current conservative government is viewed as generally pro-Israel.
Britain is not the first European country to recognize Palestinian delegations as diplomatic missions. France, Spain and Portugal have all already done so.…more…
An Objective Biblical Evaluation of Our Day
www.theignorantfishermen.com
The Conservative movement in America today – much like those who fought valiantly at the Alamo – will shortly be over run and butchered at the hand of the godless, lawless world in which we are living as Almighty God’s Word clearly states (Matt 24, Gal. 1:4; Eph. 6:12, Rev 13). This sobering reality – of Time and ETERNITY – is too much for the majority of conservatives to think about, and understandably so, they DO NOT want to have this truth in their mindset.
They have put all of their trust in the temporal affairs of this life (Eccl 1,2, Psalm 37:2, Luke 12:15-23, 1 Peter 1:24). They have also put their trust in today’s fiscal conservative saviors who – of the majority – are “social and moral” reprobates. These have also looked for assurance and comfort from the many different voices of Conservatism today (i.e.,the “false prophets of optimism” and their optimistic appraisal of today’s conditions). …more…
Netanyahu: Talks With Palestinians Could Result in Interim Peace Agreement
www.haaretz.com
In interview with Channel 10, prime minister says an interim agreement might be reached with the Palestinians if solutions can’t be found on issues like Jerusalem and refugees.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview aired on Channel 10 on Monday evening that peace negotiations with the Palestinians could result in an interim agreement.
“There could well be a situation that if we enter into talks with the Palestinians and we hit a wall on the issues of Jerusalem and refugees, the result would be an interim agreement,” Netanyahu said. “That is certainly a possibility.” …more…
Lee Says S. Korea Not Afraid of War With North Korea
www.koreaherald.com
President Lee Myung-bak said Monday that South Koreans should not fear war with North Korea although his government is eager to keep peace on the peninsula.
“If (we) are afraid of war, we can never prevent war,” Lee said in his biweekly radio address, the last of this year.
His remarks represent Seoul’s firm stance to deal resolutely with the communist neighbor’s provocations down the road.
The conservative Lee administration came under harsh public criticism for being too feeble and passive in handling the North’s deadly artillery attack on the Yellow Sea border island of Yeonpyeong last month. It was the North’s second major unprovoked attack on South Korea this year following the torpedoing of a naval ship in March that killed 46 sailors.
“North Korea committed the provocations without reluctance, misjudging our patience and desire for peace,” Lee said. “We have clearly realized the fact that only strong counteractions to military provocations are able to deter war and safeguard peace.”…more…
