I used to get emails all the time from New Agers and so-called Mayan ‘scholars’ castigating me as a ‘cultural bigot’ for not giving credence to extra-biblical 
‘prophecies’ from sources like the Maya.
I hate being called a ‘cultural bigot’. Fer cryin’ out loud, I am a religious bigot — try and get your pejoratives right. I have nothing against Mayan culture– since it is largely extinct. (But it is worth remembering that they used to like to cut people’s hearts out and eat them as part of their religious services).
Culturally, at least according to the New Age, the Maya were brilliant. According to “experts” presented to the public by the mainstream media, the Maya had calculated the exact date of the end of the world with such precision that it had to be correct...more…

No matter how noble, no matter how heroic, no matter how virtuous, no matter how selfless, no matter how passionate, no matter how courageous etc.. etc… When ANYONE leaves out the ETERNAL Creator from time’s hopeless dilemma and His ETERNAL absolutes of RIGHTEOUSNESS all is doomed and absolute vanity (Eccl. 12:13-14, Rev. 20:11-15)!
There are absolutely NO utopias here in this world and there will NEVER be, yet the world in its subjective GODLESS delusion seeks to achieve this la-la land fantasy with relativism, lawlessness, decadence, unrighteousness and Machiavellianism (Prov. 16:25, Rom. 1:18-32, Jude 1:10-13). Starbucks: Going ‘Gay’ is Profitable!

In response to objections over a public statement made earlier this year backing Washington’s same-sex marriage bill, the leadership of Starbucks Corporation assured its investors not to worry, for profits have never been better.
Starbucks President and CEO Howard Schultz fielded questions from shareholders over whether taking a stance on the controversial issue would dilute the company’s bottom line, particularly in nations where the company is expanding but homosexuality is widely considered immoral.
“I would say, candidly, since we made that decision, there has not been any dilution whatsoever in our business, and as you can see, shareholder value has increased significantly,” Schultz replied. “Performance in many ways should be one of the metrics to decide whether or not this decision in any way has been dilutive, and it hasn’t.” ..more…
‘Lost Tribe’ of Israel Returning Home

After a five-year immigration halt, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has given permission to a community of Indian citizens who believe they are one of the “lost tribes” of Israel to move to the Jewish state.
“We had a major breakthrough, and thank God, the Aliya [immigration to Israel] is set to resume this summer, and we hope and pray to bring the first batch of 50 families, or about 250-300 Bnei Menashe immigrants, to Israel by the end of August,” said Michael Freund, chairman of Shavei Israel, which is behind the initiative.
Shavei, based in Jerusalem, hopes to bring to the Jewish state the remaining 7,000 Indian citizens who believe they are the Bnei Menashe, the descendants of Manasseh, one of biblical patriarch Joseph’s two sons and a grandson of Jacob...more…

It’s not easy being a sacred cow.
NPR reports on the recent death of a sacred animal in Native American tradition:
There’s now a $45,000 reward for information leading to those responsible for the death of a white buffalo, “considered sacred by its Lakota Sioux owner,” and its mother near Greenville, Texas, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Crime Time blog.
In the Jewish tradition, the “red heifer” also has a special status. JTA readers learned about this in 1997, when the Melody the cow was born in Israel:
While most Israelis regard Melody as no more than a curiosity, some in the Orthodox community believe that the birth of a red heifer — after two millennia — signals the coming of messianic times.
The biblical red heifer was used in purification rites through the Second Temple period.
